“When you remember me, it means that you have carried something of who I am with you, that I have left some mark of who I am on who you are. It means that you can summon me back to your mind even though countless years and miles may stand between us. It means that if we meet again, you will know me. It means that even after I die, you can still see my face and hear my voice and speak to me in your heart. “
I love this quote, it reminds me of one of my teachers at FIT who used to always describe something we did that she appreciated as interesting. I never realized what a wonderful compliment that was until she explained it to me. She said, when someone says something is pretty or nice, it ends there….but if someone tells you something is interesting, well, it opens the door to a million other observations–some that can be defined and some that cannot. And so, I began to look at my work and myself in that way…. do we want to be described as mearly pretty and be forgotten? or do we want to leave a lingering memory, a feeling, a vibe on people. I think, the latter sounds so much more interesting!
